Twitter’s chief security officer has declared that election integrity is a priority “Top priority”Even though the company had just laid off half its employees, the company was still supportive. Yoel Roth (Twitter’s safety head and one of the company leaders to survive mass layoffs) has taken to Twitter in an effort to downplay the moderation concerns raised recently by activists and advertisers.

Roth tweeted that “Yesterday’s force reduction affected nearly 15 percent of Trust & Safety, as opposed to nearly half of company-wide reductions), and had the least impact on our supervisory staff.” “As early voting begins in the United States, our efforts on election integrity — including harmful disinformation that can suppress voting and combating state-backed information operations — remain a top priority.”

Roth’s comments were made hours after the NAACP joined forces with civil rights organizations and activists to call on advertisers. Spending with Twitter. Spending with Twitter

Roth, the only Twitter executive other than Musk, tried to publicly interfere in company policies following Musk’s power grab and also tried to address safety concerns that employee cuts might have.

“Last week, for security reasons, we restricted access to our internal tools to some users, including some members of my team,” he said. “Most of the 2,000+ content moderators working on the frontline review are not affected, and access will be fully restored in the coming days.” But while much of Roth’s Trust and Safety team has been shunned, many of the other teams whose work deals with safety issues have not.

as such NBC News Twitter’s management team, who worked to counter misinformation on its platform, was completely dismissed. Many safety-related engineering positions have been eliminated, as well as many workers. Communications

To be completely clear, Twitter’s strong commitment is still in place to content moderation.

In fact, we’ve already seen sometimes hateful rhetoric this week dropping *below* our previous benchmarks, contrary to what you might read in the press.

    – Elon Musk 4 November 2022

Musk declared Friday that layoffs are necessary. “In terms of downsizing Twitter, unfortunately there is no option when the company loses more than $4 million a day,” he tweeted, adding that employees have been offered a three-month termination of employment. “To be completely clear, Twitter’s strong commitment is to content monitoring has not changed.”
