Nvidia is not the only one that AMD has outdone, as they opened CES with four RDNA3 mobile GPUs and upgraded graphics technologies.

AMD has released the Radeon RX7600M XT (and RX7600M XT) which will improve 1080p gaming on laptops. The Radeon RX7770S and RX7600S complements are designed for thin and light laptops that consume less than 100W. AMD also announced two new software technologies: HYPR–RX, a key controller that will enable all AMD gaming features, and SmartShift RSR which will balance upgrade technology on supported laptops.

While Nvidia announced the RTX 4090/4080 GPUsAMD did a little better for laptops that don’t have a lot of detail. Here is a list highlighting the promises made by AMD in their mobile GPUs.

Here are all details about the Radeon 6000 GPUs and the 7000 GPUs from AMD.

    AMD

AMD has announced the new generation Radeon RX 6600M, 6700M and 6800M in May 2021. The RX6600M had 8 compute units/ray accelerators and 8GB of GDDR6 RAM. It also featured a 2,177MHz gaming clock, 128-bit interface, 32MB of Infinity Cache, and a 277MHz game clock. AMD revealed details of its new mobile GPUs right in time for AMD CEO Lisa Su’s announcement at CES 2023.

“the [mix] It allows us to address the best balance between performance and battery life across a wide range of system architectures,” Su said of the new GPUs.

We know very little about the RX7600M XT or RX7600M, except that they are an improvement in the RDNA3 architecture. The RX7600M XT features 8GB of GDDR6 GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus with 32 TFLOPS FP32 energy. The RX 7600M XT has the same memory and bus width but 28 TFLOPs. We do not know the number and speed of the computational units/ray accelerators or the game clock. (On RX6600M, there were 28 CUs, and 2177MHz, respectively.

AMD claims that the 7600MXT performs 26 percent faster than other popular games. AMD also claims that the 7600M XT is faster then the RTX 3060 8GB, and 12GB versions.

AMD compared RX7600M XT both to its own 6600M desktop and to the Nvidia GeForce RTX3060 laptop.

The RX 7700S, 7600S, and RX 7700S are similar in design. Both have 8GB of GDDR6 and a 128 bit memory bus. The RX7600S has 28 32-bit TFLOPS, while the RX7700S can do 32.

The new mobile GPUs are integrated into the Alienware M18, M16, Asus Gaming A16, Emdoor APX970, AG958GP and IP3 ARN37A.

AMD believes that its new GPUs have significant advantages for thin and lightweight laptops. AMD compared the new GPUs with the older 6700S.

All four new GPUs share the same die space and use identical processing technology.

Software improvements are in the works

According to Aaron Steinman (senior director of Radeon Product Management, AMD), all four GPUs will support AV1 hardware encoding/decoding, AMD noise suppression and content-adaptive model learning.

Three other software technologies are also noteworthy. Steinman stated that AMD will ship SmartShift RSR technology in the first half of 2023. This technology will allow for freeing up discrete GPU resources while offloading any upgrade accounts to an APU. Version 3.0 of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution will be released. This version will include improvements such as frame optimization, fluid motion frames, and more. Finally, AMD Software will support HYPR-RX, a one-button control that combines Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Boost, Radeon Super Resolution, and more, Steinman said—flipping on HYPR-RX will also turn on those features. AMD stated that it will be available in the first half 2023.
