Microsoft and Checkout.com Join Forces to Boost Enterprise Payments Performance and Foster Trust in the Digital Economy
  • Partnership unites Microsoft Azure’s global cloud infrastructure with Checkout.com’s AI-powered payments platform for faster, more secure enterprise payments
  • Collaboration will enhance digital payment experiences and help prepare businesses for the evolution of agentic commerce
  • The alliance reflects a shared goal to embed trust at the core of both today’s and tomorrow’s digital and agentic economy

Checkout.com, a leading global digital payments provider, has announced a new multi-year strategic technology partnership with Microsoft. As part of the agreement, Checkout.com will leverage Microsoft Azure’s cloud infrastructure to optimise digital payments performance for enterprise merchants. The collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to driving innovation within the payments sector and embedding trust into the foundations of the digital economy.

By adopting Azure’s enterprise-grade cloud solutions, Checkout.com will deliver faster, more secure and highly scalable digital payments to merchants and mutual customers around the world. This partnership ensures that enterprise clients benefit from continuous innovation, underpinned by a secure and trusted cloud environment. The move also enables Checkout.com to continue scaling its fintech capabilities for global brands including eBay, ASOS, Vinted, Pinterest and Klarna.

Checkout.com’s AI-driven engine continually learns in real time, and every successful payment optimisation is automatically shared across all merchants using its Intelligent Acceptance feature. This network effect improves payment acceptance rates, lowers transaction costs and unlocks additional revenue opportunities for businesses.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Microsoft and adopt Azure, bringing this mission-critical platform into our technology stack,” said Mariano Albera, Chief Technology Officer, Checkout.com. “The Azure platform has leading machine learning capabilities – and Microsoft has long been a pioneer of embedding trust into every layer of cloud innovation so that organizations can build, run and scale critical workloads with absolute confidence. Our combined commitment to relentless innovation sets merchants up for success, enabling them to thrive. And beyond the here and now – enabling them to explore and embrace the agentic commerce models where AI agents search and shop on behalf of consumers.”

“The payments industry is a constant source of AI-powered innovation and by collaborating and co-innovating with Microsoft, Checkout.com will be able to further enhance payment performance for merchants around the world,” said Tyler Pichach, Global Head of Payments, Microsoft Financial Services. “We are proud to be working with a successful, high growth UK-born fintech to scale even faster, across the globe.”
