There are many reasons to improve the overall quality and appearance of your home. Whether you are planning to sell in the near future or simply want to have an aesthetically pleasing home, you may find it challenging to do so on a tight budget! While our current economic conditions can make it tough to splurge, know that it is possible to spruce up your home on a budget.

Check out some of these simple home upgrades that you can do to make your home look better without spending a ton of money:

    1. Repaint a Room or Other Areas of Your Home: Sometimes, all your home needs is just a fresh coat of paint. This type of renovation is one of the cheapest ways to improve the quality and appearance of a room! A can of BEHR paint will cost around $50, and it may take you around 2 coats of paint to get the job done, so keep that in mind when you are planning your budget for this type of renovation.
    2. Get Rid of Old Cabinets in Your Bathroom: Having bathroom cabinets from the 80s can easily make your home look dated and cheap. If you want to increase the value of your home and change its appearance, you can swap out the old cabinets and add new ones! Taking out the old cabinets may require a hammer and a bit of hard labor, however, but it is possible to do it yourself if you do not want to splurge on a contractor. To get new cabinets, you may not have to hire a carpenter. Simply visit your closest Menards or Home Depot and purchase an already existing cabinet that is meant for a bathroom remodel! These types of cabinets already come with drawers and a sink, so you’ll have everything you need to spruce up your powder room. While completely remodeling a bathroom can easily cost over $6,000, a new cabinet is around $400.
    3. Upgrade the Lighting in Your Home: Harsh or yellow lighting can instantly make a home look cheap. If you do not have a lot of natural light in your home, it is important to invest in quality lighting if you want to upgrade your home’s overall appearance. Try searching for light fixtures that are trendy but still fit your home’s current aesthetic and budget! Depending on the type of light fixture you are searching for, you could easily spend anywhere from $100-$500.

What Colors Make a House Look Expensive?

If you want to make your home look trendy and expensive, try ditching neutral colors like millennial gray and instead take the plunge into the dark side. Many homeowners are adding deep blue, dark green, and black accent walls to give their rooms more depth. Since darker colors can be trendy, they give off the feeling of luxury! Additionally, if you aren’t ready to add dark walls, adding dark-colored furniture or accessories can also help to make your home look expensive. For an extra touch of luxury, consider adding a crystal chandelier or pendant light.

Can I Increase the Value of My Home Without Spending a Lot of Money?

You don’t have to break the bank in order to increase the value of your home. Sprucing up your home on a budget is possible! Painting your walls a darker color, installing new light fixtures, and adding crown molding are all great ways to make your home look more expensive without having to spend a lot of money. Additionally, keeping your home clean and keeping up with regular maintenance are some of the easiest ways to maintain the value of your home while you are still living there.

You can also try to replace old hardware on your cabinets and doors, give your furniture a facelift, and update your window treatments. These are all cost-effective ways to make a big difference in your home’s look and feel. If you are thinking about getting new furniture, you don’t have to visit your nearest IKEA. Instead, try hunting for bargains on Facebook Marketplace! You may be able to find some gently used gems that will be perfect for your home. If home repairs or certain renovations are too expensive for you to manage on your own, you may want to consider applying for a home renovation loan, such as title loans.
