    Disney Seeks $900 Million to Acquire the Resting MLB Stake in BAMTech Streaming Company TechCrunch

    According to a filing, Disney paid Major League Baseball (MLB), $900 million in March to buy the remaining 15% of streaming company BAMTech. SEC fileOn Tuesday, the announcement was made.

    Disney is now a 100% shareholder in the streaming company that operates Disney+, as well as other services for consumers.

    According to the SEC filing, MLB’s interest was in BAMTech was recorded at $828 million in the entertainment company’s financial statements.     MLB Advanced Media was established in 2000 by MLB to manage its website and live broadcasts online. In 2015, it spun off its broadcasting division under BAMTech. One year later, Disney invested $1 billion for a 33% stake in BAMTech. The entertainment group spent an additional $1.58 Billion in 2017 to acquire a larger 42% share. In 2021 The National Hockey League (NHL)She sold her 10% stake to Disney at $350 million, bringing Disney’s stake in BAMTech up to 85%.

    This move comes just days before Disney+ launches Ad-supported class. The live streaming service will be available in the third quarter 2022. It recorded an increase of 12 million subscribersWorldwide, there are 164.2 million subscribers.
