CES is a huge auto show, but Google also has products for cars. It also announced today that Polestar 3 will be featuring its high-resolution mapping, and it displayed its new Android Auto interface for the public for the first times since its announcement at I/O 222.
There were two vehicles at the Google booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s trailer park — a BMW i7 with the new Android Auto experience and a Volvo EX90 with Google built in. The updated interface will be able to adapt to larger screens and offer a split-screen layout, as we learned at I/O. Google removed the status bars, placed the indicator icons into a small box at top left and added a row below. The Spotify app was located on the left panel. We pulled up a list with suggested playlists by swiping right.
The left window can also be used to store alerts you don’t want to deal with while driving. If you get a notification, you can swipe it to send it directly to the dock. It’ll then wait there until your turn.
