Razer gave us a first glimpse at the Razer Blade 16 & Razer Blade 18 which will be released over the next few months. I have to say, I am impressed.

The Blade 18 Razer Blade is the most powerful and large-sized Razer blade ever created. It’s also stylish. The Blade 16 is a Razer Blade that I am more excited about than the Blade 18.

First, there’s a small LED display. It does indeed appear Great. Some shadows on screen looked strikingly bright against black backgrounds. They might have looked washed-out on other gaming screens. The black areas were strikingly black,

Razer actually had a separate board of small LEDs next to the Blade 16 in the demo area. This board mirrored the Blade 16’s work. The board’s corresponding diodes dim and lighten as the local dimming areas get brighter and darker. It’s difficult to photograph, but you’ll see the difference in the image below. We’re told the Blade 16’s display has 1,000 local dimming zones, which sounds like a lot on paper—but this panel really highlighted (heh) just how many small lights The independents that are crammed into this laptop, and the amount of work they all do.

We couldn’t actually play any titles on these Blade models, since they were pre-production units — Razer just showed us a video of the game footage. My colleague Cameron Faulkner wrote about the feature switching, which allows you to switch between 4K/120Hz or 1920×1200/240Hz modes. earlier in the dayYou can find out more by clicking here

The Razer Blade 16 displays the Razer Blade 16 logo next to a small reflective LED screen.

Here’s the Blade 16 with a small matrix board of dots. Each of these dots can be used as a local dimming zone that can be independently dimmed or lit.

I am also happy – With great happinessI can tell you that these laptops have 16 to10 screens. It makes the 16-inch board seem infinite compared with other blades I’ve used. As a bonus, the taller screen makes for a taller chassis, giving Razer room for a large 95.2Wh battery — which, with all the great screen features this machine needs to run, could be a real necessity.

I was also allowed to test the keyboard/touchpad and can confirm they are the same big, sturdy keyboard/touchpad that we have seen on Razer Blades before. Configurations come with a 13th generation Intel Core i9-13950HX CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 490 graphics. The Blade 16 starts from $2,699.99

All of these changes come with a grand total that I consider a compromise. This is the size. The Blade 16 weighs 5.4 pounds and measures 13.98 x 9.61x 0.87 inches. It’s almost a full pound heavier than last year’s Blade 15 and nearly a tenth inch thicker than this year’s Blade 15. (which doesn’t replace it, per se), but they’re clearly in a comparable class.

This is a heavy device. It was difficult to lift and doesn’t feel as slim or sleek as the Blade 15. It is a compromise people would be willing and able to make to get this Mini LED screen (plus the Blade 16’s better performance), and it is fair enough.
