The Morning After: Instagram’s redesign has killed the shopping tab

Instagram released a home screen update back in February. Shop tab hubsMove the Create button back towards the middle of the navigation bar. Adam Mosseri from the social network stated that shopping will still be available in your feeds, reels, stories, and ads –It will, of course, work. – This is not a custom tab. This change could also be part of a major strategy change. The informationHe claims that Instagram’s September internal memo indicated that it would eliminate many of its shopping features. Instead, the site will concentrate on commerce efforts that are “directly connected” to ad revenues. Impulse shopping doesn’t seem to be an effective strategy.

Who was actually browsing through the endless stream of shopping ads on Instagram looking for their next purchase? My Shopping tab currently shows a vegan cheese selection box, a $10,000 oven and fasteners for kids bikes. I think I’ll choose the fake cheese.
