Google is rumored to be launching a new Chromecast. Those looking for a 4K streamer may want to wait to see what the new gadget offers.

It all depends on what code it is. 9to5Google(Opens in new tab)The latest preview version for the Google Home app. According to the report, there are references in the Google Home app to a new Google TV device called YTC. The piece adds that one code directly confirms that this product is a Chromecast and not another device. This claim is supported by code names of previous Chromecast devices with Google TV (YTV and YTB).

The code doesn’t show what the Chromecast can do, but as the previous entry was a budget-friendly device that only supported HD resolution, we expect Google to release a new model. Google TV will launch in 2020. This means that 4K HDR will be back with Google TV. Dolby VisionAnd Dolby AtmosThe support.

What we expect from a Chromecast 2.0

Google’s next Chromecast will include a return to 4K and several upgrades. The first being a jump back to the storage space.

Although streaming devices don’t require a lot of storage, they will need some space to store their operating system and other data. Streaming devices will require more storage space as streaming services flood the market, flooding the market with more must see TV.

We hope that Google will increase the power of its Chromecast. Again, these broadcast-focused TV add-ons don’t need a huge amount of power, but Google 2020 does feel a bit sluggish compared to some of its competitors—in our review, we noticed that the software wasn’t as responsive as we’d expect from a premium product.

We also want Google to improve Chromecast Assistant’s search capabilities. Although Google Assistant works well, there are some questions that can return more complex or inaccurate results than expected. This limits its utility.

For now, we’ll just have to wait to see what Google has in the works. Although this leak suggests that the device is near enough to launch and that it needs testing on the latest version the Google Home app, there has been no other information. We will be able to get more information from Google, or a statement from them soon so that we don’t stay in the dark.
