TikTok will expand its state-controlled media label into more countries

TikTok is expanding the stickers to 40 markets immediately. More will follow. Naming standards consider editorial independence, coverage, journalistic conduct and funding. The company hasn’t yet revealed which countries the stickers will go to.

TikTok claims it is also adding a method for outlets to rename if they feel the designation is wrong. TikTok claims media outlets can prove editorial independence. These will then be evaluated outside experts.
