Campfire Audio’s IEM-style wired headphones have not received much praise from audiophiles, but the dedicated earphone expert is now moving into the realms of cable-free audio with the Orbit wireless.
Orbit is both a luxury lifestyle brand and a high-end headphones maker. Orbit keeps the Portland firm’s tradition of outdoor design. The company claims the two-tone buds are unique in their geometric shape, which is said to improve comfort and increase their solid sense of weight.
Campfire describes the cans as housing 10mm dynamic drivers with an LCP film diaphragm. This diaphragm provides “dynamic listening” with lots of low-end power. The LCP diaphragms, Campfire says, provide clarity, space, and power for a shared, rhythmic listen. .
Orbit can be used with Bluetooth 5.2, and supports wireless streams up 24-bit/48kHz through AAC and aptX Adaptive Codec support.
The battery lasts for 8.5 hours on a single charge. The charging case offers 30 hours of playback via USB C or Qi wireless charging.
There are no buttons on the buds. All playback and volume control is done via touch controls on the cases. You will find a variety of silicone and foam tips in the box. They also come with a USB-C-to-USB-C charging cable and a Campfire Audio pin-badge.
There is no noise cancellation. However there are dedicated apps available for Android and iOS which allow you to adjust a 7-band EQ, create presets and update firmware.
