Ecommpay, the inclusive global payments platform, has achieved full approval from the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) for its Hosted Payment Page and mobile SDK, confirming compliance with WC3 WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.

The certification follows a rigorous three-strand testing process conducted by the DAC to ensure accessibility for users with visual, hearing, cognitive, and physical disabilities.

As part of its Ecommpay for Good inclusivity programme, the company rebranded and relaunched its payments platform and website in September 2024, using accessible design principles — including optimised colours, fonts, and layouts — to enhance usability for all customers.

The DAC-certified platform enables merchants to offer truly inclusive payment experiences, reinforcing Ecommpay’s commitment to being the most accessible and inclusive global payments provider.

“Inclusivity ‘by default’ is the ethos across all areas of Ecommpay product development,” commented Max Ryzhov, Chief Product Officer at Ecommpay, who led the audit process with the DAC.  “Inclusion isn’t an afterthought – it is built into all aspects of product design and development from the outset. Whether it’s feature enhancements, mock-ups for new products or coding, we align to the WCAG guidelines to ensure all our services are accessible.

“Working closely with the DAC, we quickly fixed minor issues raised during the audit enabling us to achieve full certification as well as learn from the insight for future product development.  This is an incredibly important landmark for the business and we are excited to bring its benefits to our merchants and their customers.”

With expertise in design and development, issue resolution, testing, accreditation and training, The Digital Accessibility Centre works with public, private and voluntary sector organisations to help ensure their digital projects are accessible for everyone. The DAC user testing team is passionate about inclusion and ensuring everything digital is accessible. As most of the team have a disability, they bring first-hand experience and invaluable insights that have helped Ecommpay meet best practice accessibility standards and legislation.

“While we are proud to have gained DAC certification, we are far from finished with our mission,” added Max. “To further support improved inclusion across the payments ecosystem we are continuing to empower merchants to create the most inclusive e-commerce presence, so that their customers can also have an accessible and inclusive payment experience.”

Ecommpay is enabling merchants to improve their digital presence with free access to a Guide to Digital Accessibility which outlines the actions needed to meet the WC3 WCAG 2.2 AA standard for accessibility.  It covers every aspect of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines with a checklist for developers to reference as they build and maintain their websites. It can be accessed from the Ecommpay website as an HTML or PDF.
